Review:
I went into this movie confident that it would be cheesy, campy romp with the same tried and true tricks of the trade, such as when the hero investigate creepy ledge ; musicians coming from the basement and a cat jumps into the frame, but I quickly realized that this was not the case with harmful. After looking at all the steps and about 12 hours now, I can honestly say one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. In fact, there were several points in the film where I screamed like a 13 year old girl Justin Beiber concert. Keep in mind, I consciously try my hardest to keep their composure, mainly because I was sitting next to the new his girlfriend of 2 months. She, by the way, do not make a peep, thankfully, I later found out it with my eyes closed the whole time. I also hope to see a bit of blood and guts, especially coming from the guys who made Saw, but it did nothing to . Instead, they are used in just about everything else in their arsenal to scare the Bejesus out of me r and all other theater (with my girlfriend). From literally the opening credits, they create intense, haunting tension leaving your body to several whiskeys and half a Xanax later. And it feeds constantly tension, making even the characters mundane family life somehow seem utterly awful. I was actually ready to go to the theater from all uncomfortable squirming I could not control it. Id say the most calories I've burned while watching a movie (well, at least PG-13 films). Overall, the movie was great. It was crazy awesome, highly entertaining, and even surprisingly funny at times. Having said that, it will be quite some time before I watch another horror movie, I have no desire to be turned into a frazzled annoyed again soon. So if you're going to see this movie, consider this a cautionary reminder: it's probably best to go with someone who has seen that you have a complete physical and mental breakdown, in order to avoid embarrassing drive home. And maybe bring a Xanax as well.
