Review:
I finally got to see this movie in theaters bargain here in El Paso on Labor Day. I originally had not thought much about the movie, but as time passes he had left the regular room here in town and realized the wealth id wish Id gone to see him. I remember hearing some important blow-out film so terrible and wanted to judge for myself. I am very happy that I finally saw this movie movie.This is not usually Clash of the Titans / Jason and the Argonauts kind of movie where the gods are constantly displayed and promoted as the most important and powerful human beings humble. In fact, this movie completely ignores the so-called gods, and instead places emphasis where it belongs - on the troops themselves. I learned the Iliad, as well as other stories surrounding the Trojan War myth since my days as a primary school nerd obsessed gods arts and Dungeons & Dragons. Instead of being directed to this audience this film demystifies Trojan War and treat it in a way that could have actually happened. We see the elders who constantly refer to so called their gods appear as fools. One of the most telling lines is when Hector (Eric Bana) refers to Apollo not topple Achilles (Brad Pitt) to desecrate statue. It is very clear that Hector seems to question God he was taught to worship.I have been longtime critic Brad Pitt in second-line talent that became the seed ; stories just because of their appearance, but in this film, he surprised me. He is the real star of the film. Achilles is easily the most interesting character and fun. I applaud Brad Pitts effort into making your character a tragic hero. Achilles admits that he is not the son of the goddess and not immortal and invulnerable. The film really shows how rumors can blossom into a legend in itself. Achilles legend becomes immortal. He even refers to it in my favorite scene is when he encouraged his men and begins invasion heavily outnumbered and still triumphs. Later in the same scene he ridicules God called Greeks and Trojans worship for decapitating the statue. I found this symbolic scene of the movie itself. The gods are nothing for the characters and audience.Instead supernatural powers and feats were impossible realism. Even the death of Achilles is more realistic than a myth. In Paris myth is to kill Achilles with an arrow, but because he has no hand combat skills is actually based on Apollo.If including that was one thing I did not like this film was the transformation of Paris into some kind of hero. Paris was a coward in the original myth, and I saw no reason to turn him into a hero in the movie night. I think the fans of Orlando Bloom could not bear to see him as the bad guy and had transformation uninspired Paris in a better archer than Robin Hood. While this movie was not even close to an epic masterpiece that manufacturers expect or what was advertised, he did not deserve strike Matthew mentioned that she has received from critics. I applaud the creators of this film and look forward to buying it on DVD.
