I'm really impressed people criticize this movie because of the lack of substance. I have seen comments about how limited dialogue, and therefore there is no character development, just history. Did we watch the same movie? Im thinking that we should not have.Shame immersed in the life of a person living with addiction to sex. The first 10 minutes of the film introduces him effectively, his passion, his relationship with humanity (sister included), and just use words to do so. You do not need a lot of conversations when emotions are communicated through facial expressions, effective cinematography, and great editing. This film is loaded with all the movies that.Obviously subjective, but I feel like those who say they do not know all the characters must always need all crammed into them. I'm not a sex addict, but still associated with both Fassbender and Mulligan. I found that the development of so subtle and very realistic. Make everything you need to always have that suspension Hollywood? Does it get wrapped up nicely and leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling when you walk out of the theater? I definitely do not think so. Anyone who really needs that probably should not watch any movies Steve McQueen. Anyone who can appreciate raw, subtle and beautifully made film to go see Shame.
