Description:
After the death of my father Indias, Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her mother is unstable. He comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, and still crazy about him.
Review:
Even if I have to remember the other films in the Vengeance trilogy, Ill always love Chan-wook Park for the Oldboy (side note: it could not be less interested in Spike Lee's remake). It is a powerful intense film that are very violent Asian cinema. Unfortunately, it feels more like old boy was a fluke. Stoker is beautifully shot, highly modified, and sound design is incredibly intimate, but the story leaves much to be desired, it is a frustrating missed opportunity. The film seems to live in some strange Tim Burton-not-world Addams Family full of bland archetypes and clichés. For the first time, there are no details on the character data and immerse ourselves in their relationships and conflicts unattractive expect us to take care of any and flashbacks do not make more of a difference for either. The Acting suffer severely for it too, feeling cold and melodramatic. Park is much more interested in directing the camera and actors (granted, I have heard that there was a language barrier), but I blame writer.Instead level of detail and dialogue, basks in images and symbols that would w , be interesting given a better context and subtext. Stoker belongs to the field of film jump to violence and sex with a small trigger conflicts of all kinds. This connection assumption is frustrating and never feels sincere. But some of the film exciting and sensual effects felt due to its heavy use of editing and photography, although some shots do not feel like they cut well, but they just feel hollow. Goode makes a good Norman Bates, but I've never bought his obsessions. Kidman feels wasted and Wasikowska feels directly from the cliché teenager? book. I do not know what they are trying to say with this ending. Its not a surprise that this is a script from a first author who think they are being original. Although I'll probably still see Parks'm A Cyborg and thirst when I get around to them. They seem to have a better stories.6/10
